About the course

If you are a graduate wanting to enter the legal profession, but do not have a law degree, the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL/CPE) conversion course enables you to cover the first academic stage of legal training.

On completion of the course, you are eligible to progress to either the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or the Bar Vocational Course (BVC), and gain a professional qualification if you want to work as a solicitor or barrister. Successful completion of the GDL at the University of Hertfordshire entitles you to an unconditional place on our LPC programme.

You will normally need a minimum of a lower second class honours degree in any discipline from a United Kingdom university. We also welcome applications from holders of overseas qualifications and mature non-graduates subject to obtaining a Certificate of Academic Standing from Solicitors Regulation Authority (future solicitors) or the Bar Council (future Barristers).

English language requirements

All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered

- GCSE English language grade A-C
