More about the course

CIMA - The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants - is a leading membership body that offers an internationally recognised professional qualification in management accountancy, which focuses on accounting for business.

The syllabus for the CIMA Professional Qualification comprises three elements, these are; The Management level which consists of six exams, The Strategic level which consists of three exams and The Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting (TOPCIMA) which is one exam based on a case study.

What will I be studying?

This qualification covers the following papers:

  • Enterprise Strategy
  • Performance Strategy
  • Financial Strategy

We also offer a revision course for each paper, for those who have already studied the papers but are preparing to sit the exams.

Where and when do I study?

If you are attempting this level for the first time, we offer a nine-week course that covers all three papers above. There are six consecutive Saturday workshops for each paper, with one paper taught in the morning and another in the afternoon.

The revision courses are also taught over weekend sessions and are three consecutive Saturdays or Sundays. All teaching takes place at the University’s de Havilland Campus, and you will also be required to spend additional time on independent study. This is dependent on the combination of units selected by each individual candidate. However, between 45 and 55 guided learning hours is expected.

Exemptions

It is feasible to have exemptions from individual papers based on previous study (normally university degrees), details of which can be obtained by visiting the CIMA website.
