Postgraduate Medicine has a multidisciplinary team of experts, who collaborate to promote excellence through evidence-based research across the EU and internationally. Main areas of investigation include:

Postgraduate Medicine Research Group’s Strategy:
- Facilitate integration of teaching and research to maximize learning experiences and research opportunities
- Foster multidisciplinary links in relation to health research
- Develop a Faculty of clinicians who work in the NHS and have strong links to Postgraduate Medicine
- Develop strong links with the Academic Health Science Network Pursue aspirations through development of Centres in: Habit, Addiction, and Self-Image Enhancement (CHASE); the Study of Oncology and Chronic Disease; the Study of Mental Health and Dementia
- Support the next generation of health researchers by offering innovative higher degree programmes
Postgraduate Medicine Research Group Achievements 2013/14:
- Increasing the research active faculty in collaboration with the local NHS
- Enhanced grant income (over 400K) and pending applications for over 1.5M
- Significant research output of peer-reviewed publications (58)
- Growing programme for higher research degrees with 2 successful completions this year and 5 new offers to doctoral candidates, increasing student cohort by 50% to 15 students in 2014
- Appointment of 5 substantive members of staff and 9 Visiting Senior Lecturers and Professors
- 3 agreements (funded by Erasmus) for staff exchange with La sapienza and the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy) and the University of Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary) involving both teaching and research staff
- Co-organising International Conference on Novel Psychoactive Substances in Swansea (Sept 12-13) in collaboration with online streaming
