Examples of our customer profile

Heales Medical

Heales Medical, a leading provider of a range of occupational health services, needed to develop a sound approach to the analysis, documentation and proving of diagnosis of stress and, subsequently, the correct treatment procedures.

The outcomes needed to be available for use by human resource officers, managers, occupational health professionals, counsellors and psychologists. Working through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, the School of Psychology provided the expertise necessary to deliver this.

As a result, procedures were developed to assist in directing clinical help to those who need it, to isolate a best cause of action for each case and to provide an evidence trail for instances where an external tribunal might be needed to resolve a dispute between a Heales client and their employees.

British Music Rights Society

In collaboration with the School of Film, Music and Media we are currently advising on the design of a questionnaire for the British Music Rights Society relating to music purchase, downloading behaviour and attitudes to copyright.

This will be used for one of the largest surveys of its kind with young people.

Intuitive Media Ltd

Created by Intuitive Media Ltd as an educational website and forum, The Gold Star Café is a sheltered online learning community aimed at the 11-14 year age group. The School of Psychology is involved in an on-going evaluation of the One World Zone within this website.

This Zone provides an informative and interactive means of communicating with young people about issues of global development such as poverty, environmental sustainability, fair trade, natural disasters and world summits.

By providing information in an accessible, interesting and attractive way, the Zone aims to raise awareness and increase understanding of global mutual interdependence.

The project is supported by the Development Education Centre (South Yorkshire), including funds from Oxfam and Christian Aid, and by the Department for International Development.

Evaluation will include assessment of extent and type of young people’s usage and online polling to assess the popularity of individual items. It will also give consideration to the effectiveness of the site in raising awareness of global development issues among young people and in engaging their interest.

The findings will contribute to on-going changes to the site to improve accessibility and interest, and will represent a major evaluation of the educational and social impacts of children’s engagement with online communities.

Where it can contribute to the overall success of a project, we collaborate with other schools at the University, e.g. Computer Science, health-related departments, Life Sciences, the Business School, Education, etc.
