About the School of Life and Medical Sciences
Welcome to our new School
The School of Life and Medical Sciences was created following the University restructure in 2012, and brings together the Schools of:
- Pharmacy
- Psychology
- Life Sciences
- Postgraduate Medicine
The new School provides a full range of undergraduate, postgraduate, research degrees and short courses, covering the breadth of disciplines across all four of these exciting fields.

Research centres and groups
The School also has 3 University research centres which are:
- Topical Drug Delivery and Toxicology (TDDT)
- Centre for Clinical Practise, Medication Safety and Drug Misuse Research (ClinSafeMed)
- Centre for Lifespan and Chronic Illness Research (CLiCIR)
The School also has a number of research groups which cover applied and practise-based research, including:
- Pharmacology
- Biotechnology and Molecular Biology
- Geography and Environmental Sciences
- Sports Health and Exercise
- Neuropsychology and Neuroscience
- Dance Psychology

From state-of-the-art Learning Resource Centres, impressive pharmaceutical laboratories and specialist facilities (including a Clinical Simulation Centre, a Dance Psychology Lab and a Campus Pharmacy) to our £15 million Sports Village, the University of Hertfordshire is an outstanding place to study, live and work.
Our Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is one of the largest in the UK, and contains everything you need to help you succeed in your studies.
