Foundation degrees
Foundation Degrees are intermediate level higher education qualifications. They emphasise work-based learning, and concentrate on the development of employability skills, personal and professional development.
You develop a whole range of valuable skills alongside your subject knowledge, such as:
- communication
- teamwork
- problem solving
- the application of number
- the use of information technology
These are essential skills not only for work, but also for future study.
The Foundation Degrees offered by the Consortium have been developed in partnership with local industry. They take account of the needs of the local and regional labour market and are likely to open up real employment opportunities for you.
Foundation Degrees enable you to gain a nationally recognised degree qualification in only 2 years of full-time study, with many part-time study routes also available.
If you are successful, and want to continue your studies, you can normally progress at the University of Hertfordshire to the final year of an Honours degree programme and graduate with a BA or BSc Honours Degree after only one further year of study.
