University based programmes
The School of Education offers a range of University of Hertfordshire based programmes.
- Bachelor of Education (BEd) - Undergraduate, 3 year, full-time course.
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) - 1 year, full time course.
Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
One year full-time courses in Art and Design or Business Education or Mathematics or Modern Foreign Languages or Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

- Modern Foreign Languages - Applicants could apply to train to teach any of the following:
- French with Spanish
- French with German
- German with French
Applicants for whom French is their native language can apply for MFL with an honours degree in any subject.
- Science - Applicants who are interested in joining our programme need to apply for one of the following areas:
Science applicants will be expected to teach the above three science areas in secondary schools. Applicants with a Biology degree will not be considered for interview unless they have A level Physics or Chemistry.
