Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Education is a dynamic programme for those with an active interest in working with children and families.

The BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education degree aims to prepare you to work with young children and their families, to become a confident, independent, critical thinker, a skilled learner, a pedagogical leader and a self-aware professional.

Embedded in the programme are four principles:

  • Each child is a competent and capable individual.
  • Children’s Rights (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child UNCRC) are recognised and promoted.
  • The child is seen holistically in the context of family and society.
  • Cooperation with others (parents, colleagues, other professionals etc.) is actively sought for the benefit of the child.
