Funding
Our commercial services to the public and private sector(s) are funded in a variety of ways and we offer commercial consultancy at competitive rates.
We are able to draw on part-funding from research and industry funding providers. These include Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).
For more information on KTPs visit the KTP online portal or contact our Business Partnerships Office.
There is also the opportunity for investment from the University’s UHInvest scheme.
Our Track Record
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Our Knowledge Transfer Programmes (KTP) have proved to be a particularly appealing mechanism for collaborating with the School.
They are an excellent funding mechanism for companies to work with the University on a project that has a competitive, strategic value to the partnering company.
The School has recently successfully secured KTP funding for several commercial projects with a total value of approximately £750 k.
Find out how KTPs can help your business.
Short Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (SKTP's)
Unlike classic KTP’s which last between one and three years, SKTP’s will run from 10 to 40 weeks, significantly reducing the cost of utilising the expert knowledge of recent graduates and academic specialists and allowing businesses to ensure that realistic, high-impact deliverables are achieved in a much shorter timeframe.
It is expected that these SKTP projects will act as a stepping-stone for those organisations that have not worked with a knowledge base before to realise the benefits that can be achieved through knowledge transfer and collaboration.
The overall cost of an SKTP will be dependant on the duration of each specific project; however the typical weekly rate is £950. SME’s will receive 60% grant funding towards the cost of an SKTP, reducing the weekly costs to the business to £380.
Benefits of a SKTP include:
- Accessing highly qualified people to spearhead new projects
- Accessing experts who can help take your organisation forward
- Developing innovative solutions to help your organisation grow
