Business integration

Reflection in glass window. The Hertfordshire MBA sets itself apart from other management programme by keeping business integration at its core:

Business-client collaborations

One of the key differentiators of the Hertfordshire MBA is our international collaborations with leading businesses.

Students work with organisations such as IBM, Xerox and Harman International to address current strategic issues.

The ‘triangular’ collaboration with business, students and academics is further extended when our university partner institutions in the USA, Germany and India contribute to research and consultancy projects.

These collaborations give our MBA students an opportunity to work as part of an international collaborative learning community.

International partner institutions

The Hertfordshire MBA extends its uniqueness by collaborating with other AACSB & AICTE accredited Higher Education Institutions in the US, Germany and India.

Our partners in the US include Fordham University and Texas Tech University and our Indian partners are two leading institutions based in Delhi: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) and the Indian Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (IILM). We also work with IMB Berlin as part of this initiative.

Our students team up with partner institutions’ students to form an international collaborative learning community where they act as a team of consultants to develop sustainable solutions to real business challenges.

Applied Individual Project (AIP) with client partners

The Hertfordshire MBA allows participants to specialise in an area of their choice by spending six months of a one-year programme engaging with an allocated business partner.

Since 2008 we have worked with over 30 client partners including leading organisations such as Pitney Bowes, GKN and SMEs such as Barton Windows, UTel, TopHex, Dien, Paradise Travel and IET.

Academic supervisors are matched with students and client partners in order to build closer relationships that may lead to employment, research and placements.

Placements and internships

The Hertfordshire MBA includes short placements and internships as part of the Applied Individual Project. These may range from three weeks to three months depending on the client’s requirements.

The client partner meets day-to-day expenses and also pays the research costs encouraging students to do primary research as part of the project. This is another new initiative that sets the Hertfordshire MBA apart from other UK providers.

Practitioner input

Many of the MBA modules now include practitioner input. Leading practitioners from organisations such as NHS, Reuters, American Express and Schneider Electric contribute to teaching and help our MBA students address key challenges through live projects.

MBA Masterclass series

The Business School continues to host a series of MBA Master Classes as part of the MBA.

These sessions not only provide our students with an opportunity to listen to leading academics and practitioners but also create an opportunity to network with attending business delegates.
