Starting university is an exciting time, yet as you adjust to a new culture and routine there may be occasions when you need practical help and information, or simply a listening ear.

Hertfordshire Business School Information Point provides administrative and academic support, and it is your first point of contact if you have any routine student enquiries, including:

  • completion and signing of relevant forms
  • programme transfers and withdrawals
  • module changes
  • late enrolment
  • examination queries
  • collection of student information to provide the basis for a reference.

Academic Skills Unit

The Academic Skills Unit (ASU) is the one-stop-shop offering skills and personal support to all Business School students. They provide online guides, workshops and one to one sessions all designed to help students improve on all the academic skills needed to succeed at the Business School, such as:

  • writing
  • referencing
  • analysing
  • oral presentations
  • technology
  • maths
  • statistics
  • exam techniques
  • personal effectiveness
  • time management

Careers and placements

All of our Business School undergraduate programmes offer students the chance to take a work placement during their third year, leading to a sandwich degree. On some programmes the placement year is compulsory.

In an increasingly challenging market, having work placement experience can add value to your CV and help you stand out to potential employers.

Our careers and placements office have a dedicated team here to help students develop their skills and to help them make the best decisions for their future.

Who could I be working for?

You have the opportunity to work for a wide variety of companies, industries and locations both nationally and internationally. And if you take a placement in Europe, you may even qualify for an Erasmus Grant in addition to your salary.

We currently have students working in a broad range of organisations including Disney Corporation, IBM, Xerox, TUI, Microsoft and General Motors.

All of our undergraduate Business School programmes offer students the chance to study abroad for anything between three months and a year.
