Planning a reunion
Do you ever wonder what happened to your fellow alumni after graduation?
Why reunite?
Planning to reunite with your former classmates and tutors can seem like a daunting task, with so many people to contact or track down, and lots to prepare for.
However, help is at hand - your Alumni Association is happy to offer tips and advice to make the process as easy as possible.
Offering support and advice
Whether you are a recent graduate, or you attended the University of Hertfordshire back when it was known as Hatfield Polytechnic, or Hatfield Technical College, the Alumni Association can support you in organising the perfect reunion for your graduating year.
For your consideration
If you are interested in organising a reunion, we would recommend that you begin planning well in advance. It can take time to arrange something that is going to suit everyone, so the more time you give yourself to put an event together, the better.
Other things to think about when planning a reunion:
Date
Make sure that the dates you choose aren’t going to clash with any local or national holidays; sensitivity is often required to ensure that there is also no conflict with religious or cultural days of celebration or observance.
Time
The time your event takes place can vary. If it is a weekday event, it is worth ensuring that attendees have enough time to arrive after work
Location
We would recommend that you choose a venue that is centrally located with good transport links and parking facilities. Also, try to make your event as affordable as possible to ensure a good turnout. Visit your venue beforehand to check it has everything you need, e.g. wheelchair access
Publicity
We can assist with publicity by putting information on the alumni website, in Futures Magazine and in the eFutures newsletter. Social networking sites, such as Facebook, are also particularly useful here
Invitations
Due to data protection, we cannot give alumni information directly to you. However, if we have advance notice, we can send out an invitation letter or email on your behalf, but the alumni office will need to administer all correspondence
Please note...
Due to budgetary restrictions, we are currently unable to support events financially. We would recommend that you charge a small admission fee to ensure that all costs are covered.
