The Hurricanes Storm To The British Universities Championship Final

4 June 2013

Hurricanes

University American Football team to compete head to head with the University of Birmingham

After battling it out against current Challenge Trophy holders, the Sheffield Sabres, a winning score of 37 points to 7 secured The Hurricanes a semi-final match against the University of Bath, in which they confidently walked away with 41 points to 12.

As a result of the team's performance, they will be travelling across to the South Leeds Stadium on 20 April 2013 where they will take on the University of Birmingham (and fingers crossed, coming back home with a trophy!).

In 2012, The Hurricanes managed to gain the winner's title and this year they hope to claim it back.

Bryn Clark, Head of Sports Development  said: 'It is a fantastic achievement by the club to reach the National Championship Final and the credit and recognition undoubtedly goes to the players and the coaching staff who have worked extremely hard in the last six months both on and off the field.

As a University and Athletic Union we are extremely proud of their success and we wish them all the best in the forthcoming final.'

We wish The Hurricanes the best of luck for their match and look forward to hearing the final results!
