Successful businessman and alumnus Michael Kashioulis celebrates business idea

Founder of the Hertfordshire Entrepreneurs society and graduate in Business Economics, Michael Kashioulis, has gone on to start up his own web design company, Smart Cookie Design Ltd. He was then selected to celebrate the launch of ‘Start Up: A Story Project’ at the Houses of Parliament, an event organised by University Alliance and the National Association for College and University Entrepreneurs (NACUE), a non–political organisation that aims to transform graduates’ business ideas into reality.

Michael was one of twelve entrepreneurs chosen to speak at the event alongside the secretary of state for business, innovation and skills, Vince Cable, who spoke about the impact of graduate contributions to the economy today.

Nigel Culkin, Professor of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at the University of Hertfordshire said: ‘Michael is a role model for anyone aspiring to become a graduate entrepreneur; he is a wonderful ambassador for the University of Hertfordshire. He embraces all of the graduate attributes we try to ensure our students develop over the course of their time with us.’

Michael said: ‘The launch event was a great experience and it was really good to hear so many influential people talk so positively about enterprise societies and start-up businesses. The whole thing has reinforced my love and passion for business. I met so many creative people through the enterprise society and the University, which gave me the incentive to start up my own business.’
