Engineering Alumnus Launches Handy Cookbook For Everyone
Cooking is easy with help from alum Nauman Latif
After spending a number of childhood years noodling around his mother in the kitchen, food and cooking were always a key part of life for Nauman Latif.
Nauman, who graduated in 2003 with a Beng(Hons) degree in Engineering, took this interest to the next level when he moved out to study at the University of Hertfordshire. Being a student meant that it was essential to live on a budget and cooking was the solution to his financial worries.
As curious as he was, the time spent with his mother had inspired him to make cooking more convenient for people who find it a chore. Technology took the lead as he was able to take advantage of the iPad to develop his simple and visually engaging cookbook idea.
Nauman explained: ‘I understand that most of the students have access to mobile devices these days and they simply don't have enough time to read and understand two page recipes filled with words and just one or two photos.’
‘I decided to write an interactive cookbook with less words and more high resolution photos for every step. The cookbook has the same recipes which I learnt during my student years. I hope this will encourage students to eat tasty and fresh food without spending a lot of time and money.’
Nauman’s future plans consist of publishing more interactive cookbooks for Apple and Android devices to enable individuals to feel more confident in the kitchen. Find his easy-to-follow recipes on iTunes and YouTube, with further details also available on Facebook.
