Alumni Run Company Evalu8 Secures Further Funding
£37 million funding released to support electric vehicles
EValu8 Transport Innovations Ltd, which is owned by the University, has recently been involved in a major government project called ‘Plugged In Places’, encouraging drivers to move to electric vehicles.
They have recently received further good news, receiving an extra £570k of additional funding initiative from the government, supporting the installation of further plug-in charging points across the East of England.
The government’s £37 million initiative, which will go towards the installation of more charging points across the whole country, will benefit EValu8 as they will be able to enhance their own offering to stakeholders.
The company has further links with the University as the majority of EValu8's staff are alumni, including Managing Director, Dr Keith Bevis (PhD, 2009), Business Development Manager Russell Fenner (MSc Strategic Marketing, 2007) and Office Manager Oycan Musafa (BA (Hons) Business Studies, 2008 and MSc Strategic Marketing, 2009).
Keith is very positive about the future of electric vehicles, saying: 'This new initiative means there is now greater scope to work together with other transport providers. New electric vehicle models are also coming to market this year, and with the Government’s new funding, the Source East network will develop and become more accessible, opening up to international roaming and to Pay as you Go options. Altogether it is an encouraging scene for drivers to take up electric vehicles.'
Part of the government’s mission is to increase the uptake of low emission vehicles in the future and this is certainly an exciting project for the University and its alumni to be involved in.
