Alumna To Undertake Foreign Aid Trip To Ethiopia
Michelle Pannell to see first-hand the benefits of foreign aid
An eye-opening journey with ONE.org
Alumna Michelle Pannell is travelling to Ethiopia in October with ONE.org to see first-hand the difference that foreign aid can make to a developing country.
The aim of the trip is to increase awareness of ONE and to promote the advocacy and campaigning work they do to ensure a fairer deal for developing countries, particularly those in Africa.
ONE is a non-governmental organisation, which means that ONE operates independently of any Government. Their funding comes almost entirely from a handful of philanthropists on the ONE board of directors (ONE's largest funder is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). The aim is not to fund raise but to raise awareness and persuade political leaders to fight extreme poverty through smart and effective policies and programs.
Michelle, who was awarded a MA in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations in 2007, is a well-read and ranked UK parenting blogger and will be blogging throughout her journey.
