One-to-one mentoring

Most suitable for Year 9/10/11

Pupils who have the ability to succeed in school but are not achieving their full potential will find the Raising Attainment Mentoring programme particularly helpful.

University of Hertfordshire student mentors will work with individual pupils to help them to understand why they are not achieving as well as they should be and help them to explore how they can work more effectively.

The Raising Attainment Mentoring programme can help to:

  • raise confidence and self-esteem
  • set goals
  • establish effective study habits

Outcomes

  • 70% helped in at least 1 academic subject
  • 69% motivated to work harder in class
  • 50% improved study skills
  • 42% achieved better homework grades
  • 38% achieved better coursework grades
