Raising aspiration mentoring

For pupils who have the ability to progress in education post-16 but are in danger of not aiming high enough.
University of Hertfordshire student mentors will work with groups of 5 or 6 pupils on activities which raise their awareness of further and higher education opportunities available.
They will help pupils to make course choices, plot career paths and establish effective study habits.
Outcomes
- 86% of the pupils were encouraged to continue their education to sixth form, college or university
- 80% said that it had helped them set better goals for their studies
- 75% said that it had made them feel more confident about succeeding in their studies
