Inclusion mentoring

One-to-one mentoring
Experienced University of Hertfordshire student mentors will work with pupils to help them overcome their difficulties/ barriers and to explore ways to enable them to remain in school and engage with education.
The Inclusion Mentoring programme is especially suitable for pupils who are:
- at risk of exclusion
- hard to place pupils
- children looked after
- young carers
- pupils with English as an additional language
- facing difficulties such as a disability
Outcomes
- 50% of the mentored pupils chose to continue with their education
- Self-esteem and behaviours of the pupils has improved, as has attendance

‘He was a lost cause before taking part in the Inclusion Mentoring programme. There has been a real turn around in his attitude and behaviour. He’s coming back to do his AQA (examinations) and has asked for tuition to support the next lot of AQAs’.
