Community engagement
We get involved
UK Recruitment and Access gets involved with the community in a variety of ways.
We:
- work with extended schools as part of the government’s extended schools programme
- are involved with supporting the Francis Combe Academy and a number of trust schools
- help Year 6 children at local schools learn about crucial life skills as part of the Crucial Crew project
- offer a vocational opportunities day to support students with learning and/or behavioural difficulties to understand what career paths are available and raise awareness about the progression pathways into vocational qualifications
- have held events for the local community, including events for Year 9 and Year 12 parents and a Community Action Day where staff and students delivered activities and workshops in venues including libraries, schools and shops
University of Hertfordshire Schools and Colleges Governors Forum
The University interacts with primary and secondary schools and colleges through a range of voluntary activities including governance.
A forum has been established to support university members who are interested in becoming or are currently governors in a school or college.
There is a close relationship with the Hertfordshire County Governance team to help provide up to date data and relevant information.
We work closely with The School Governors’ One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) to support and recruit governors from the University.
