Education for Sustainable Development

The University’s Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy 2008 – 2012 commits to ensuring that graduates will have explored environmental sustainability as appropriate to their area of study.

The Environment Team works with departments and schools to help deliver the environmental and sustainability message to students through their courses. We believe that educating our students about sustainable development and how this links with their course is crucial in providing them with the skills they will need to carry these concepts into their chosen careers.

This year we gave environmental inductions to various schools and are investigating ways of working with staff and students to set up student sustainability projects. This area of work is in its infancy and will be an area of focus for the Environment Team in the coming years.
