Santander, the University and SMEs help graduates find jobs
The Careers and Placements Service at the University have successfully placed ten graduate interns within local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Hertfordshire and London in 2013.
University of Hertfordshire graduates have secured a three month internship, earning £1,000 per month, across a variety of industries including engineering, marketing, IT and finance. The funding of the internships was a joint venture between Santander, the University of Hertfordshire and the SMEs. The graduates commenced their internship at the beginning of the year and some have been offered an extension to their three month contract and permanent positions.
One graduate who took part in the internship programme said: 'I found the internship a very enjoyable and valuable experience. All my colleagues were very friendly and I feel my communication skills have improved as well as other interpersonal skills such as assertiveness, decision making and team working.'
Building upon the success of this initiative, Santander have confirmed funding for a further twenty-five graduate interns later this year. These internships will be available for student and alumni who will be graduating in 2013. The internships will again run for three months in duration and are a great opportunity to gain hands on experience and enhance CVs. The Santander internships will be advertised from October 2013 onwards on CareerHub.
