Students receive expert guidance during Clearing

29 August 2013

A team of trained staff and current students have been on hand at the University of Hertfordshire since A Level results day, Thursday 15th August, to offer advice and support for students receiving their results on what to do next.

Clearing Hotline

Callers, who were understandably nervous about their futures, were spoken to by friendly staff specially trained to deal with these emotions and were able to find out all the options available to them on the grades they had received.

The University's Clearing hotline was manned by approximately 60 current students who filtered through over 8,500 calls in the first day to over 90 academic and admissions staff who were able to make a total of 1,230 offers.

Aspiring

Julie Kelly, Head of the Student Centre at the University of Hertfordshire, said: "Getting a place at university remains competitive and, as in previous years, there are more people applying than there are places available. This year we have been looking to recruit students who meet our entry requirements and have the potential to succeed on their chosen course."

She added: "It is important for students to aspire to furthering their studies – a degree is a highly valued and important qualification."

Options available

Students are still able to call the University of Hertfordshire's Clearing hotline on 01707 284848 between 9am and 5pm to find out the options that are available to them.

Information on a broad range of course options at the University of Hertfordshire is available at www.herts.ac.uk/clearing. Students can also follow updates and post questions to @DiscoverUH via Twitter.
