Paranormal Activity At The University Of Hertfordshire
In collaboration with UHArts, the University of Hertfordshire’s outreach team have developed a series of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) events, which aim to promote these subject areas through film and documentaries.

Entitled the STEM Twilight Club, the events will consist of a film or documentary clips plus an academic’s expertise to discuss contemporary developments in science, technology and maths in an understandable and entertaining way, with the hope of encouraging post-16 learners to consider study and a career in these areas.
The first event, The Paranormal on Film, will be delivered by Professor Richard Wiseman - Professor of the Public Understanding of Psychology at the University, and will take place on Monday, 5 March between 4.00pm and 6.00pm.
Professor Wiseman will screen previously unseen footage of seemingly psychic events and explore the science behind the paranormal. Expect an evening of spoon bending, fire walking, mediums, levitation and ghostly photographs, and discover what goes bump inside your brain.
Further events planned include; Psychology of Dance with Dr Peter Lovatt (aka Dr Dance) – a participatory event incorporating his worldwide project ’23 Feelings in Dance’; STEM in the Cinema with Professor Alan Davies – an examination of science and mathematics in contemporary cinema, why is science there and is it correct?; and Astrophysics Indiana Jones style, with Dr Mark Thompson – which includes a screening of BLAST! a scientific adventure exploring the surprising real life of scientists, from catastrophic failure to transcendent triumph.
Each of the events is open to the public (over 16 years of age), free to attend, and will take place at The Weston Auditorium on the University’s de Havilland Campus.
