Santander has added the University of Hertfordshire to its Santander Universities network and will generously fund a series of activities at the University over the next three years.

Through its Santander Universities Global Division, Santander has been funding UK universities since 2007 and the University of Hertfordshire will be number 54 to join the list of beneficiaries.

The scheme is launching today at the University, where the agreement will be signed by Vice- Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, Professor Quintin McKellar, and Luis Juste, Director of Santander Universities UK.

Professor Quintin McKellar says “We are delighted to be working with such an acclaimed organisation. This donation will enable the University to present two annual scholarship awards worth £5,000 over the next three years, as well as a minimum of twenty travel bursaries of £1,000.”

Santander will also be providing financial support for the University’s well renowned entrepreneurial activities, such as funding for incubator spaces for start-up businesses, achievement awards for top students, and a £3,000 contribution to support the Racing Formula Student Car and its associated engineering projects.

Luis Juste said: “We are delighted to welcome the University of Hertfordshire to Santander Universities. We look forward to working in this partnership to promote and foster the University’s international links with the nearly 1,000 universities that are already part of the network.”

Furthermore, Santander has pledged to assist the University in finding work placements and exchange programs for students identified under the Study and Research abroad awards, in countries where Santander Universities is present.
