5 June 2013

This week, the University of Hertfordshire awards Chris Corbould, British Special Effects Co-ordinator an Honorary Doctor of Arts for his unquestionable talent, career success and inspiration to young people looking to work in the special effects film industry.

At the ceremony on Tuesday 17 November - held in the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban – Chris Corbould widely known for the digital effects and stunts in the James Bond, Superman and Batman film series received his Honorary Degree alongside hundreds of new graduates celebrating academic success with their proud parents and friends.

In receiving his Award, Chris Corbould said: "I would like to thank the University for inviting me here and I would like to congratulate all you talented graduates receiving your degrees today. If I was to talk about the biggest contributors to my success, I would say that teamwork and my dedicated team who never fail to amaze me are key factors.”

“My advice to you today would be to soak up as much knowledge as you can. Be like a big sponge and it will come back and pay dividends." He adds.

This week, the University will also show its appreciation to fifteen other pillars of the community by awarding Honorary Degrees and Fellowships for outstanding contribution to academic disciplines, charity, professions or public service - presented by Lord Salisbury, Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire; Mrs Jo Connell, Pro Chancellor of the University and Professor Tim Wilson, Vice-Chancellor.
