- The college offers 4-year sandwich Diplomas in Technology.
1958
- Redesignated as Hatfield College of Technology.
- The technical college is able to transfer much of its lower level work to local colleges and develops course for higher National Certificates and Diplomas, as well as University of London external degrees.

- College Librarian Gordon Wright plays a primary role in developing HERTIS – the Herts College Library Network.

- A number of part-time and full-time courses are developed under the University of London’s external system.

- The first post-war emergency women’s teacher training college is established at Wall Hall.

- Alan S Butler, Chairman of the de Havilland Aircraft Company, donates 90 acres of land at Roe Green on condition that it is used for educational purposes.
