We have a fantastic range of halls on campus – around 3,500 students live on campus in University-owned and managed student accommodation so they're always close to the social and learning facilities they need.

BioPark facilities

We have virtual tenants – our BioPark facility is a science park managed by Exemplas on behalf of the University. It provides 6,000 square metres of laboratory and office space to life science and health technology businesses. There are currently 27 permanent and virtual tenants.

We care about the environment the University has been given first class awards in the People & Planet Green League every year since its inception in 2007 – Hertfordshire is ranked 57 out of 151 universities with a score of 47.6% (People and Planet Green League 2015). Learning resources

We have state-of-the-art facilities - our Learning Resources Centres (LRCs), open 24/7, provide the University with 3,000 study places, 1,200 computer workstations and WiFi for laptop users plus online and print journals (over 38,000) and over 875,000 books (including 375,000 online ebooks).

New development

de Havilland CampusIn the last ten years we've built the £120 million de Havilland Campus, cutting-edge buildings for film and media and health and human sciences, our landmark The Forum Hertfordshire and a brand new Law Court building.

The next ten years will see us achieve even more, as we work towards our 2020 Estates Vision. It's a ground-breaking vision that will see us upgrade existing facilities as well as invest in major academic buildings, new student residences and new student services facilities with all services located on one part of the College Lane campus.

New development will bring vital additions to our de Havilland Campus and transform College Lane on a scale not seen for fifty years. Importantly, it will be delivered in a sustainable way with the College Lane residences being the country's first true zero carbon project.

We have a global network of academic partners – more than 3,500 students take courses abroad at our partner institutions.

Sports facilities

Boasting some of the finest university sports and fitness facilities in the country, our £16.5m Sports Village and newly built Oval on College Lane, are really brilliant places to work up a sweat. Facilities include a 110-station health and fitness centre, a 25-metre 8-lane indoor pool, a sports hall with a variety of 12 courts, floodlit 3G pitch, tennis and netball courts and a 12-metre high climbing wall.

Start-up companies

We support businesses and start-up companies – our Enterprise Team lend a helping hand to students and graduates venturing into self-employment. Over 100 budding entrepreneurs enter our annual start-up competition each year and 95 students and graduates have launched their businesses from our Incubation Centre since it opened five years ago. This assistance is offered alongside our Business Services team who help companies get ahead of the competition by introducing tailored support to help discover, develop and deliver business ideas.

By 2020, all of our students will leave the University of Hertfordshire with some form of accredited work experience. The Careers, Employment and Enterprise Services is dedicated to making graduate recruitment easy for employers – as well as helping to give our students the edge in the careers marketplace. Our virtual learning environment is a leader in its field. studynet is our online University, available 24/7 on the web from any location, giving all staff and students their own storage space. The application offers students a range of blended learning methods in an innovative e-learning environment.
