Barry Lewington

Barry is an IT Professional with over 30 years experience within IT operations. A Principal Consultant with PTS Consulting, Barry specialises in Data Centres, IT Governance and Service Management.

Barry has worked in and with data centres for most of his working life, and has developed a passion for the efficient and effective implementation and management of Data Centres for all industry sectors. Barry has held senior management positions within the Data Centre service provider market place before joining PTS to assist organisations to better deliver their IT services.

Barry holds the ITIL v3 Expert service management certification and is an ISO20000 certified consultant and auditor.

One of Barry’s recent projects includes the assessment and development of an Options report for the development of a Shared Services Data Centre Service for the Education Sector on behalf of HEFCE. With the increasing demand from organisations (public and private) for innovative and creative solutions to solve their Data Centre requirements and Carbon Reduction Commitments, Barry has seen a recent shift for increased professional advice on the development of existing and new Data Centres with a particular focus on power efficiency and the Green IT agenda.

To help the community keep abreast of data centre issues as they occur, Barry has authored numerous white papers, press articles and speaks regularly at industry conferences and seminars.
