A Confusion of Leadership
Join Professor Quintin McKellar as he delivers his annual public lecture on an interesting and topical subject.
In an eventful political climate, with recent referenda and elections coloured by populism, isolationism and separatism, the Vice-Chancellor examines how our political leaders have responded to these challenges. Should politicians embrace populism or challenge and confront it directly? Can they nuance populist policies to deliver a more balanced but still popular alternative? He will ask what we can learn about leadership from these elections and it will affect our own approach to the challenges of university education where evidence, fact and rational discourse comprise our core values.
Professor Quintin McKellar is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire
Professor McKellar is also the chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Pirbright Institute, the Innovation and Growth Policy Network of Universities UK and the Universities Vocational Awards Council. He is chairman of the Hatfield Town Regeneration project and a Board member of the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
