Race equality in higher education

What can we achieve in the next decade?

To mark Black History Month 2013, the University of Hertfordshire is hosting a symposium that will focus on the cycle of inequalities associated with Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) academics throughout their interactions with the higher education system (as undergraduates, post-graduates, post-docs and into academia).

About the event

With stark statistics of BME representation among the academic community, what can the UK higher education sector do to drive progress for race equality in our institutions?

This one-day event will explore the issues affecting BME students, including their learning experiences and attainment, through to the recruitment, development and retention of BME staff; where the sector is in terms of delivering successful outcomes and identify and share good practice.
