About the Speaker

Sir Simon is one of London's most prominent dealmakers having spent over 50 years in investment banking. He has a background in international corporate advisory with a wealth of experience in mergers and acquisitions, merchant banking, investment banking and financial markets. He currently serves as a Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Non-executive Director at HSBC.

Sir Simon started his career with Kleinwort Benson, where he spent 34 years and eventually served as Chairman. He then moved to Goldman Sachs, where he held a position as Managing Director between 1997 and 2005. He then founded the now called Robertson Robey Associates LLP, where he works with Lord Robey offering corporate finance advice to a limited number of international companies.

Sir Simon also has a huge interest in areas outside of the financial sector. He is a Trustee of the Eden Project, held a position as a Trustee with the Royal Opera House for 10 years, stepping down in 2012. He also served as the Chief Executive Officer at Rolls Royce holdings since 2005 and Non Executive Chairman until May 2013. In addition Sir Simon also holds Non-executive directorships with Berry Bros & Rudd Limited, the Economist Newspaper Limited and Troy Asset Management, and serves as a Partner of NewShore Partners LLP.

Sir Simon was knighted in 2010 for services to business. He was also made an "officer" of the prestigious French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2011. He is a Life Fellow of the College of Advocates of St Paul's Cathedral and an Honorary Fellow of Eton College.
