Tickets

Tickets and extra tickets

How many tickets can I have?

Every graduate/diplomate has their ticket (no charge) plus up to 2 for their guests (£16 each). Every guest attending requires a ticket. Refunds can be given up until the last date of registration.

Do children need a ticket?

The ceremonies are formal in nature and not recommended suitable for children under the age of 7. However, if you intend to bring children of any age you will need to issue them with a ticket(s) from your guest allowance.

The only exception is a babe in arms (up to 1 year old). To avoid disturbing the enjoyment of others we would request that the adult carer sits with the child/baby near an exit as they easily become restless and bored and may temporarily need to leave the venue. Children may not sit with the graduate.

Are my tickets sent to me or do I collect them?

Tickets are not sent but should be collected by the graduate/diplomate on the day from the pre-ceremony venue (see Getting there for locations). You will need photo ID and your Confirmation email as proof of your registration.

Will I be seated with my guests?

No. Graduates/diplomates are seated in pre-assigned seats. Guests allocated seating for the March ceremonies and have unallocated seating for the November ceremonies. If children are brought to the ceremonies they must remain under the care of a responsible guest for the duration of their time in the ceremony venue.

One of my guests has a disability - can you accommodate their needs?

At the time of registration you will be asked whether you or either of your two guests have any disability or infirmity that we should be aware of and we will try to make arrangements to suit.

Extra tickets

Can I have extra and how much are they?

Extra tickets are not guaranteed, always very limited and available on a first come, first serve basis after the deadline to register has passed. The number available may vary from ceremony to ceremony and have a quantity restriction placed upon each student. You are strongly advised not to make arrangements on the assumption you will receive these extra tickets.

If available, extra tickets are £16 each. No refunds are given for extra tickets.

How do I apply for extra tickets?

Extra ticket purchases are made via the University's online shop. You will need an account to make purchases which may be created at any time but the purchase of any extra tickets is only available during the following times:

  • Research and undergraduate ceremonies: 9.00am Tuesday 5 November 2013 (until sold out)
  • Postgraduate ceremonies: 9.00am Tuesday 25 February 2014 (until sold out)

Can I get any extra tickets on the day of my ceremony?

No. We do not sell or redistribute any spare tickets on the day of the ceremonies. You are advised not to bring any guests who do not have a ticket as they will not be granted entry to the awards ceremony. There is no overflow area for guests without tickets.

One of my guests with an extra ticket has a disability - can you accommodate their need?

We would hope to be able to accommodate the needs of guests with extra tickets but the turnaround may be too tight to satisfy the more complex arrangements. You should contact us immediately upon purchase of an extra tickets to discuss the possible arrangements we can make for you. We regret if you contact us with less than 5 working days prior to the start of the ceremonies we cannot guarantee to be able to accommodate your need.
