Independent pharmacy group achieves 90% pass-rate for trainee pharmacists
Independent pharmacy buying group, CAMRx, have benefited from pre-registration training designed to improve the competencies of trainee pharmacists. The programme has run for the last 3 years, with over 100 pharmacists trained.
"The training provided from the university is excellent and has helped trainee pharmacists achieve the competencies required by the GPhC. The Mock Pharmacy adds a great deal realism to the training"
Rajni Hindocha Managing Director CAMRx Limited
Business challenge
CAMRx approached the University of Hertfordshire’s Pharmacy Department to develop a bespoke pre-registration training course for their trainee pharmacists to meet some of the competency requirements of GPhC manual.
The larger pharmacy chains had their own in-house training provision, which meant the smaller pharmacy chains and single-handed proprietors had to look to training providers to meet this need.
Although there were many training providers providing this course, they did not have the practical feel or the academic rigour that would be expected.
How did the University help?
Experienced University staff members who had previously worked in community pharmacy and academia designed the training course - some of which was delivered in the simulation pharmacy to give practical exposure to the training.
Real business results
90% of students passed their pre-registration examination first time and were able to register as a pharmacist.
