Philharmonic

The de Havilland Philharmonic (formerly the Philharmonic at UH) is the resident orchestra of the University of Hertfordshire comprised of talented amateurs, music teachers, and semi-professionals.

Support by the University enables the orchestra to tackle a diverse repertoire and engage renowned soloists. The orchestra performs up to seven concerts a year including a children’s concert, all of which are enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience.

Conductor Robin Browning

Robin Browning

The de Havilland Philharmonic is led by dynamic young conductor, Robin Browning. Robin is one of the most acclaimed and successful conductors of his generation. He is currently Music Director of Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra, the Petersfield Orchestra, Essex Youth Orchestra, and Southampton University Symphony Orchestra in addition to his regular concerts with the de Havilland Philharmonic.

Robin has a busy guest conducting schedule with orchestras such as Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra, Trinity College of Music Sinfonia, Junior Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, and was recently invited to conduct the Chelmsford Sinfonietta, a newly-formed professional orchestra. He has conducted all over Europe, recent tours and conducting work taking him to Hungary, Croatia, Holland, Italy, Romania, Spain, Portugal, and the Czech Republic.
